Respawn Entertainment’s revolutionizing first person shooter Titanfall for the Xbox 360, Xbox One and the PC enjoyed major success and positive feedback on launch and it was promised that we’d be receiving three DLC packs for the game and we’re now very close to getting our hands on the first one which has been named ‘Expedition’. It was announced during PAX East 2014 at a retrospective panel where we also heard that there are also free updates heading to the game which include new burn cards and more multiplayer modes.
Other than this, the new DLC will also be adding in multiple other features such as allowing you to customize your titan, daily challenges, competitive ranking for the elite and also social media hashtags.
The developer also took the time out to listen to requests from the fans and the most requested feature was allowing you to remove your HUD for video capture and Respawn Entertainment has stated that they are currently researching on it.
Another thing that the developer is considering is the addition of so-called “Rifts” or “Variants” which basically make small changes to existing modes to add some new effect to the experience. They’ll mostly be temporary and will last for two weeks tops but if they receive positive feedback from the community they might even end up being a permanent feature.
The story of the Expedition DLC takes place after the multiplayer campaign and includes three new maps. The first map is named “Swampland” which will be taking place among the ruins of archaic alien technology and will feature trees to fulfill your wall running needs. The second map will be called “Runoff” which will take place in a water oriented environment.
The third map is called “War Games” and this is the map we know the most of up until now. It’ll be taking place in the games’ training simulator and heavily emphasizes on parkour. The outskirts of the “War Games” map has wide and open spaces for titan on titan combat, the middle of the map has a narrow crossing which has just about enough room for a titan to cross through but also hiding spaces for any sneaky pilots looking to ambush a titan to claim it for their own or just rip it apart. The IMC will spawn at a location based on the Airbase map and the Militia will spawn at a location based on the Angel City map and it will have open spaces between the buildings so you’ll be taking the fights to the rooftops or the open streets quite often.
The ‘Expedition’ DLC is set to release during May for the price of $9.99 but it won’t cost anything to the people who bought a season pass which was priced at $24.99.
