Watch Dogs is one of the most anticipated releases of 2014 with its new technology and hacking elements which give the gameplay a completely unique aspect. The plot of the game is set in Chicago, Illinois and revolves around the protagonist Aiden Pierce who, as expected, is a monster with electronic devices and can hack into system to either simply acquire information or more chaotic purposes.
While you’ll mostly be hacking into devices instead of shooting, the core gameplay mechanics of Watch Dogs are like those of a third person shooter. Players can perform multiple unique tasks by being able to hack into the central operating system (Also referred to as CtOS) of the city which basically controls everything tech related in the city. Players can also hack into someone’s phone to steal their financials or they can even disrupt traffic light signals to cause panic in the city.
The campaign of Watch Dogs is currently expected to clock in at approximately 40 hours but this is just the main storyline. If you want to go all out and finish up every side mission the game has to offer, those are 60 extra hours you are looking at. Therefore, Watch Dogs offers a potential 100 hours of gameplay for the hardcore gamer.
To the games’ credit, it has received 150+ pre release awards for the E3 displays in 2012 and 2013.
Other than the single player, Watch Dogs will also offer the multiplayer experience. The multiplayer will consist of one player entering the game world of another player and is tasked with installing the virus on the phone of the second player. This virus will steal information from the player which will grant additional power to the player who stole it when he goes back to his own game world. Don’t worry though, as you’ll have the chance to counter act this. The second player is alerted as soon as the data transfer begins and then has to find the first player who is hacking his phone, then either he has to kill him or make him flee far enough that the download stops.
There will also be online free roam and a wide variety of other multiplayer game modes to keep the fans interested in the game for a long time to come.
The game is set to release on 27th May which is just two months away from now, it will be released on Playstation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, PC and also the Wii U although the Wii U release will be slightly delayed.
