After the incredible success of Far Cry 3 (Released in November 2012) fans were eager for what the developer had in mind for future releases of the franchise. Finally, after a long time, new information has finally surfaced on the 4th installment of the Far Cry franchise.
According to current information, the next release of the Far Cry series will be set in the Himalayas which is rather surprising as this is completely new for the series since it has usually been set in tropical areas.
The first hint of this setting was hinted over at twitter.
This rumor has also been confirmed by Euro Gamer so we’ll certainly be seeing Far Cry 4 taking place in the Himalayas, note that there’s also mention of some kind of “Monsters”.
Aside from its setting in the Himalayas, Far Cry 4 is also featured to have mountable elephants which are definitely a first for the franchise.
The expected release platforms for Far Cry 4 are the PS4, Xbox One and the PC. It will be pretty surprising if the developer manages to pull off a PS3/Xbox 360 since it will probably require them to tone down a lot of the games’ features/graphics so that it may run on those consoles with stability.
Other sources have stated that the core gameplay of Far Cry 4 will be quite similar to that of Far Cry 3. There will be outposts, hunting and a lot of the same things from the previous game so from what we know ‘till now, there’s not much that will catch you off guard, other than the mountable elephants of course.
The first official Far Cry 4 reveal will probably be at this year’s E3 Conference taking place in June and the current release date of the game is expected to be in the first quarter of 2015 so we’re not really that far away from experiencing the 4th installment in the Far Cry franchise.
