The League of Legends All Star tournament has been around for years now and the season is never really complete without it. It is a showcase of the top players and teams of each region. The tournament this year will be taking place at Paris, France and the venue will be at the Le Zenith Arena which is a spectacular venue for the event and has a capacity of approximately 6,300 people.
The All Star tournament will begin on Thursday, 8th May 2014 and will conclude on Sunday, 11th May 2014.
While the all star tournaments over the past years have been fairly similar, the even this year will introduce a new format that is sure to please the fans.
The Format of the tournament:
There will be two main competitions in the event, the first one is the All Star Invitational and the second is the All Star Challenge.
The All Star Invitational will consist of the regional winners of the following leagues:
- North American LCS
- European LCS
- Garena Pro League
- The LPL (Chinese Pro League)
- OGN Champions (Korean Pro League)
Only one team will be representing each region for a total of five teams.
These five teams will battle in out in a grueling group stage out of which one will be disqualified and the remaining four will move on to the semi finals.
The semi finals will be played in a best of 3 format and the winners of the semi finals will move on to play in the finals for the $50,000 prize and the title of All Star 2014.
It is also worth noting that there probably will not be a third place playoff.
The second competition of the tournament is the All Star Challenge which will take place at the beginning of each day of the competition. The All Star Challenge will consist of two rosters which will be formed by mixing up the elected pros from the various regions.
The pros that get to play in the All Star Challenge will be determined by a fan vote that starts on 30th march so you might want to keep that date in mind if you want to vote for a player of choice along with the player vote, the game mode that will be played in the All Star Challenge will also be determined through a vote.
Tickets will go on sale soon, and be sure to check out lolesports.com in the coming weeks for more information including a detailed schedule and voting information!
