Here'a a look at this years Season 4 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2014 teams, roster and standings so far. It's been an exciting couple of weeks and with Super Week just past we see major changes in the dynamics of both the game and the teams. Some teams didn't make the cut this season such as MRN and Team Complexity completely disbanding much to everyone surprise. However with new support systems, jungling objectives, we can expect to see new strategies emerge, surely to affect the challenger series for League of Legends players everywhere.
It’s only their second season in the LCS but their first season was extremely successful as they dominated the NA LCS and their second season has almost been the same. Cloud 9 has been looking extremely strong ever since they’ve been in the LCS, unlike most other teams they did not have any roster changes coming into the new season so they still have the same roster they had last year and they are definitely performing with great consistency and are currently placed 2nd in the standings with a score of 16 Wins and 4 Losses.
Counter Logic Gaming
Counter Logic Gaming is considered by many to be the “Liverpool” of the NA LCS because they definitely have the talent in their team but they never really managed to show results. After an extremely rough season 3 and a shaky start in season 4, CLG is looking extremely strong right now thanks to the addition of Dexter to their roster at the role of Jungler. Funny fact about CLG is that this is the first time in a long time that they’ve actually had a player who mains the Jungler role filling in that position which has obviously been extremely beneficial for them as they’re now placed 3rd in the standings with a score of 12 Wins and 8 Losses.
Curse Gaming has had perhaps the most roster shifts in this season so far. At the start of season 4 they had a new roster in which they had Quas in the Top lane instead of Voyboy, IWillDominate in the jungle instead of Saintvicious and Voyboy in the mid lane instead of Nyjacky and finally Zekent at the role of support. The team still looked lacking after those changes to their roster so after multiple changes they finally settled for BunnyFufuu at support and he has been performing well in his rather few games so far, it’s hard to say anything about Curse right now with all the roster swaps they’ve had. Curse currently holds 5th place in the standings with a score of 8 Wins and 12 Losses.
Formerly a top tier European team, the Evil Geniuses roster actually split up into two teams at the start of the season. These two teams were Alliance and Evil Geniuses, Evil Geniuses was moved over to North America while Alliance stayed back in Europe. The Evil Geniuses roster consisted of Snoopeh, Krepo and Yellowpete from their former roster and they also picked up Innox as their Top laner and Pobelter as their mid laner. Unfortunately though, it seems like the new Evil Geniuses have not found yet found the right synergy between their team as they’ve been constantly underperforming and hold 7th place in the standings with a score of 6 Wins and 13 Losses.
Team Coast actually managed to secure 2nd place in the spring split of season 3 but the new season hasn’t necessarily been kind to them. The only roster swap they’ve had coming into this season was replacing DontMashMe with Wizfujin at the role of Marksman/AD Carry which hasn’t bore fruit until now as they stand in 6th place with the score of 7 Wins and 13 Losses.
Team Dignitas has always been the “okay” team of the NA LCS. They only display top tier performances occasionally but don’t necessarily perform bad most of the time. Coming into season 4 they also were the victim of a roster change as KiWiKid was moved to the role of Support instead of Patoy and Cruzerthebruzer was recruited as their new top laner. They currently hold an “okay” record in the NA LCS at 4th place with 8 Wins and 11 Losses but they definitely have the potential to be amongst the top 3.
The Titans of the NA LCS, Team SoloMid has always been strong but the addition of Bjergsen to their roster to replace Reginald at mid lane has simply pushed them over the top. They have been decimating the opposition throughout the season and they still aren’t showing any signs of stopping, each and every player in the team has been performing extremely well so this year Team SoloMid may have some strong showing during international tournaments which haven’t really been their strong point they currently hold 1st place in the standings with a score of 17 Wins and 3 Losses.
XDG is a classic example of the “If it ain’t broken then don’t fix it case”. The team looked like a force to be reckoned with throughout season 3 but coming into season 4 they made roster swaps by putting Xmithie at Marksman/AD Carry and making Zuna their jungler along with this Bloodwater is also no longer a part of the team and has been replaced by Sheep as the support. Personally speaking, most of the roster changes that happened in the team were completely uncalled for and as now they stand rock bottom in the standings and facing relegation if they don’t pick up their slack. They’re currently placed 8th with a score of 5 Wins and 15 Losses but there is still hope as Sheep has had great performances thus far and Zuna and Xmithie are back on their former roles.
