Dark Souls 2 is set to release in the next week for consoles and in April for the PC and its time we talked about what you can expect from the much anticipated sequel of what is considered one of the hardest games of its times.
The story of Dark Souls 2 has no relation to the story of its predecessor even though they are set in the same game world, the main story of Dark Souls 2 revolves around the fact that your protagonist finds him/herself in Drangleic which used to be a prosperous land but now ruined and the protagonist needs to find a cure for the curse of the undead.
The game carries forward the same difficulty curve that its predecessor had so you can expect to die a whole lot as you probably did if you’ve played Dark Souls 1. The main difference between Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2 comes in the form of a new gameplay engine so you can expect improved gameplay and perhaps much better optimization which will result in a lot less FPS drops, especially if you’re playing on a PC and don’t have the high and mighty hardware.
Changes to gameplay include the addition of multiple methods you can use to heal which is extremely helpful in a game as combat heavy as Dark Souls and you can no longer level up at Bonfires so you actually have to go back to the hub to level up. Another thing is that your Estus flask now initially starts with only one charge which can make things quite difficult but the good thing is that you can actually increase the amount of charges that your flask can carry by finding Estus shards which will upgrade your flask.
